Linda: origin Story, the short version
As an only child, I started asking questions early, and there was no one to give me a shove and tell me to shut my yap.
I kept asking questions all the way to Rhode Island School of Design, where I earned a degree in Industrial Design and found out asking questions is really the basis of solving most (all?) problems. (I also have a degree in English, but I haven’t found that to be anywhere near as useful.)
Once I graduated from RISD I created a wholesale business designing and selling products worldwide- with customers as varied as the Smithsonian Institution, Whole Foods Market, Whitney Museum of Art and MGM Grand.
To be entirely honest, I found my passion in problem solving, not creating tangible goods So I decided to pivot.
My family had an opportunity to open a restaurant selling hot dogs and fries. Quick service food is exciting and demanding! It’s also an industry that could really benefit from innovation. I realized the skills I’d learned in art school could work in lots of different environments, and I should share what I can to help people become more efficient.
So I went back to school-- I completed the Business of Design graduate program at Parsons. And to round out my education I completed the HBX program (business analytics, economics and accounting) through Harvard online… it’s a heck of a course, like Pelaton for your brain.
Now my pockets are chock full of design tools.
I’m armed with one of the best skills ever invented—listening. I’m also really good at asking questions and organizing information to make new connections.
Most importantly, I can help you find the root of the problem. The question that needs to be answered. The one that will yield impressive solutions.
Creative problem solving (aka the process of finding the right question, and in turn finding answers) is so powerful it’s like black magic… but all on the up-and-up.
Throw me a soft ball. Or a hard ball. Send me an email and let’s set up a time to talk.
